Security Awareness Zone: BS 7799 / BS7799

A common way of embedding information security throughout an organization is to embrace an information security standard. This creates a structure to follow and a benchmark against which progress can be measured.

The most widely used standard is now BS7799 / BS 7799, which consists fo two parts:

1) Part One is the main part of the standard, and is also known as ISO 17799
2) Part Two is the management specification and covers the framework for deployment of security.
